Thank you everyone who came out to @xoxofibre yesterday. It was fantastic meeting so many new yarn enthusiasts and seeing so many familiar faces among the vendors 🧶❤️

I’m not a stranger to markets but this was my first one as a yarn shop owner and crochet nerd. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the shoppers so thank you for making me feel welcome.

This day was made SOOOO much better because I had an amazing side kick all day. HUGE feelings of gratitude to my friend Karen (or as we like to call her, Neon Karen 🥰) for helping me all day. It was a 7am pick up to 9:00pm drop off kind of day and I am so so grateful to have done it all with her.

Yes, she made her cardigan. Pattern by @mjsoffthehook . Yarn is @lionbrandyarn mandala. And yes, she ROCKED IT!

What a whirlwind weekend that was!
In case you didn’t know, I help my friend @aliceboll with her membership site @scraphappyorg and we met up in Edmonton this weekend for the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival hosted by @csmscrapbooker magazine.
We have the best members and we needed to share our corner of the internet with everyone! 🥰 It was such a fun event and we met the nicest people. Can’t wait to see some of you in our Circle and on our Zooms!!

I snuck in a bit of crochet time on the flight down but the rest of the time was all Go Go Go. I still have my flight home so all is not lost for my C2C baby blanket using @cascadeyarns Cherub DK 😉

Hey knitters, we have a new class with @knit_storm that’s ready for registration! It may not be boot season currently, but learn to make these now so you are boot season ready!

This class is good for anyone who has taken (or is currently taking) Beginner Knitting. If you know how to knit and purl and the basics of pattern reading, Fiona will teach you all the other skills. Like knitting in the round, yarn overs to make the lace work, and basic cable stitching techniques.

Officially market ready!
Jk. But I did finish my Canada flag blanket so my booth will have at least one decoration in it! 😂

This was a surprisingly easy blanket to crochet. The pattern is by Ali from @theturtletrunk and she breaks down the colour changes so simply. 10/10 recommend you run to her site and buy the pattern! (And for my US followers, she’s got a 🇺🇸 blanket pattern too)

I used @cascadeyarns Anthem yarn - our favourite acrylic yarn. We use this in our classes all the time. The colours are gorgeous, the yarn feels so soft and squishy, and the price point is right where we need it be these days.

For this blanket my colour choice was easy - Red & White. I needed 4 balls of Red and 3 of White as I used a slightly smaller hook than the pattern called for to get a smaller finished blanket.

I don’t have all the colours in stock that Anthem comes in (they have about 80!) but I have a lot. Search for Anthem on my site and you’ll find them grouped by colour family. Want a colour that’s out of stock? Hit that ‘notify’ button and I’ll add it to my next order.

Today was Scrapbook Live with @aliceboll from @scraphappyorg and I took my inspiration from a layout posted recently by @sara.scraps She used products from the @photoplaypaper This Happy Life collection to create a half-and-half layout. One half of Sara’s layout was filled with stickers, wood grain and acrylic pieces, stamping, and so much more. As soon as I saw that we had the same collection in the @thescraproom kit, I knew I had to scraplift Sara’s layout! Normally I finish my layout during our Scrapbook Live zoom, but not today. It was worth the extra time though! Yesterday I strolled through the booths and displays at Fibres West. I’m always on the look out for fun new yarns, upcoming trends, and who the local vendors are. In our current climate of political and economic uncertainty, supporting our local stores, farmers, dyers, and makers is so important. Kim and I have been going hard since last August. Finding space to teach. Planning new classes. Revamping old classes. Making samples. And building our community. We have loved every second but we were tired. So we did something about it. We took a break, left our families behind and drove to Osoyoos for two days of concentrated crochet time. And planning time. Oh, so much planning took place during that 4.5 hour trip! (Should have had a notebook though 🤦‍♀️) Kim crocheted an entire blanket while we were away - using @lionbrandyarn Hue & Me. It’s so gorgeous and squishy! I worked on a little something that will be launching this summer 🤫 as well as continued my prep work for @xoxofibre Fibre Fest in June. On this day when we celebrate women, I’d like to thank all the women who have made a difference in my life. While this reel may only focus on the ones I interact with in my daily life (plus my girls 🥰) there have been many others over my lifetime. Too many to name. Mothers. Sisters. Aunts and cousins. Friends and neighbours. Business associates. If you are watching this and my words ring true, then know that I’m talking about you. ❤️❤️ Women wield a type of power that seems to cut through a lot of the bullcrap going on in the world to get done what needs to be done. This scares the weak minded and they try to oppress us and take back the progresses we have fought for. As women we need to stand up, stand together, and continue to fight. Last night we started the first of our two blanket classes. The Waffle Stitch blanket has long been a favourite beginner friendly project for us. I always love seeing what colours everyone chooses and thought you all might like to see them too. This time around there were a lot of very similar colour palettes. Once a month we are holding a night we call Washcloth Wednesday where you can learn either a new crochet or knitting stitch pattern. The banter going back and forth between the tables is hilarious! It’s so good to see everyone working together, getting along so well, making friends “across the divide”. Well done everyone! We made it through January 🎉🎉
It’s been a full month of classes, and creating and learning new things. And while I may reach the end of each week exhausted and wondering when life will slow down (spoiler alert - NEVER!) I wouldn’t have it any other way. All this is made possible because of the amazing tribe I’ve built around me.

February is shaping up to be another packed month as we launch two 2.0 classes, two blanket classes, plus our Washcloth Wednesday (get ready for heart themed stitch patterns!) and three WIP nights. Phew!
